History of Cognac Guy de Bersac

Domaine du Coquerel began its days under the title, Calvados Gilbert. It was started in 1937 by one René Gilbert, in the vineyards of the Manoir du Coquerel in the heart of Normandy. Here they concentrated mainly on the production of the famous apple eaux-de-vie, Calvados.

In 1971 the company was purchased by the leading German spirits group, Asbach & Co. This led to further diversification including the production of cognac and liqueurs. The company was, for a short period, part of the Guinness Group but was since sold on and is once again an independent French company.

Guy de Bersac Cognac Today

Today Guy de Bersac Cognac remains a part of the company Domaine du Coquerel. The cognacs are, of course, produced in the region of Cognac in Charente and include a full range from a young VS cognac upwards. They also have some very old cognacs dating back to the beginning of the 18th century.

Guy de Bersac and Domaine du Coquerel is headed by Jean François Martin.

News, Products and Old Labels

Guy de Bersac cognacs range upwards in price from around €19 for a bottle of Cognac Guy de Bersac Fine. They have also produced a strictly limited edition called Cognac Guy de Bersac 1900 – of which only 400 bottles were produced. This bottle sells for a higher price due to its limited edition.
