History of Distillerie du Peyrat

With a family history stretching back over centuries in the art of producing Cognac, it was in 1998 that owner Jean Francois Rault decided to turn every part of the process into being at one with the environment.  At that time the concept of organic Cognac was still well in its infancy - indeed, even today only a handful of producers attempt to do this.

Using small pot stills to distill their eaux-de-vie, the house continues to make Cognac in the same manner of their ancestors, when a family member set up as a 'Marchand Bruler' in 1725.

Distillerie du Peyrat Today

Today the house is certified organic by several organizations - including the USDA and ECOCERT.  They use green energy as much as possible, including the inclusion of solar panels onsite to generate clean energy.  All the labels and stickers used in the production process are made from recycled paper, and as much as possible they use local providers to avoid any unnecessary emissions when supplies are delivered.

News, Products, and Awards

The range of Cognacs is small, but of undoubtedly excellent quality.  Currently there are four different Cognacs on offer, ranging from the VS Organic Selection to the wonderfully aged - 'six decades in the making', Grande Siecle.
