Château Paulet Cognac

Château Paulet Cognac

The house of Paulet Cognac has a long history, with roots dating back to 1848. However, the house was beset by financial difficulties in the mid-1970s, which led to the family having to sell the house. Today, the brand of Paulet still exists, but under the umbrella of the liqueur producer, Pages Vedrenne. Their Cognacs have always been, and continue to be, of extremely high quality. This is highlighted by their many awards, both in the past and right up to the present day.

History of Paulet Cognac

It was back in 1848 that the house of Paulet, was established in Jarnac by one Jean-Marie Lacroix. The estate had been producing Cognac since 1761. It was a true family run house, and highly successful. Indeed, over the years the house of Paulet acquired other Cognac brands, bringing them together and utilizing the excellent eaux-de-vie they gained in this way to create some rather outstanding Cognacs. The house did so well that they moved their HQ from Jarnac to Cognac itself, where they resided in the delightful Domaine de la Couronne. Sadly, financial difficulties in the mid-1970s saw them taken over by Renaud-Cointreau, the house of Frapin. This also led, eventually, to the sale of the Cognac chateau in 2002.

Paulet Cognac Today

Today, under the large umbrella of Pages Vedrenne, Paulet Cognac continues to work their magic. They produce a small, but top quality range of Cognacs, which includes a wholly organic blend. Whilst in the past their products were created from their mainly Grande Champagne and Fins Bois vineyards, time has seen them purchase a lot of eaux-de-vie from many other wine growers, with a particular emphasis on that from the Borderies region.
