Maison Aurian Today

Maison Aurian is a family-run producer and négociant based in Condom, in the Gers, at the heart of Gascony’s Armagnac country. The house works across several categories, including Armagnac, liqueurs, aperitif wines, vermouths, eaux-de-vie, and fruit-based specialties. Its identity is built around natural ingredients, transparent production, and a strong connection to the region’s drinking culture.

Today, Maison Aurian is led by Isabella and Florent, who took over the family company in 2018. Their goal is to continue making artisanal products without compromise while also bringing fresh ideas to the range. The house remains closely tied to its century-old cellars in Condom, where visitors can discover the Armagnac aging chai, the production of liqueurs, a small museum, and a traditional Armagnac alembic.

History of Maison Aurian

The story begins with Joseph Dupeyron of Saint-Arailles in the Gers, who started aging and blending Armagnac in the 19th century. His family line later connected with Marius Aurian through Jeanne, Joseph’s granddaughter. Marius developed sales during the interwar years, a strong period for the Armagnac trade, and won a competition in 1932.

Jean, the son of Marius, became a distiller and négociant. He also created the wax-finishing technique still associated with the house today. Later, Philippe Aurian expanded the company’s creative direction by developing a wide range of aperitif and liqueur recipes. For more than 40 years, he travelled through the region introducing these distinctive products to new customers.

Armagnac Style and Cellar Work

Maison Aurian describes itself as an éleveur-négociant, selecting and maturing eaux-de-vie with close attention to the relationship between each spirit and its barrel. The aim is to let the wood reveal the personality of the eau-de-vie rather than cover it. This gives the Armagnac range a strong focus on individuality, long aging, and carefully selected casks.

The house is particularly recognized for brut de fût vintage Armagnacs. These bottlings are presented without blending or dilution, allowing each cask and harvest year to show its own profile. Depending on age and cask, Maison Aurian Armagnacs can show notes of dried fruit, wild fruit, oak, spice, rancio, leather, vanilla, honey, and deep woody tones.

Range of Maison Aurian Armagnacs

The Armagnac collection includes tasting boxes, classic blends, artist-led limited editions, brut de fût millésimes, and the rare Opus collection. The Opus series includes exceptional old Armagnacs such as 1900, 1924, 1928, 1929, and 1932 releases, each linked to a major event from its vintage year and presented in a collector-style box.

Maison Aurian’s listed vintage range stretches from the late 19th century into the 21st century, with the house noting that its cellars contain Armagnacs more than one hundred years old. This makes Aurian especially appealing for collectors, birthday-vintage searches, and enthusiasts looking for old Gascon brandy with a strong cask identity.
