Distillerie les 1309 is a small, independent family estate rooted in the heart of the village of Sigogne, in the Fins Bois cru of the Cognac region. It is the story of Jérôme Vrignaud, a third-generation vine-grower who farms around 40 hectares of vines and crafts estate cognacs and Pineau des Charentes entirely from his own harvest.

The name “1309” is a tribute to family and heritage: it brings together the birth years of Jérôme’s two children, Anna (born 2009) and Aubin (born 2013), symbolising the generational thread that runs through the estate. Three generations of vine-growers have worked at 1 rue de Neuvicq, beginning with Jérôme’s maternal grandfather, François Léonard.

A graduate in viticulture and oenology, Jérôme trained at the renowned Maison Lhéraud before taking over the family estate in 2008. Alongside his partner Célia, he installed his own still and released the very first bottles under the Distillerie les 1309 name in 2023. Only a small part of the estate’s production, around 10 to 20 percent, is set aside and patiently aged to become the house’s own cognacs and pineaux. The estate is HVE and CEC certified, reflecting a genuine commitment to environmentally respectful viticulture.

The range brings together estate cognacs (VS, VSOP, XO and limited vintage releases) alongside three Pineau des Charentes (white, red and a Très Vieux aged 30 years), all matured in French oak and bottled at the domaine. Each expression has been recognised with medals at leading French and international spirits competitions.
