Description

Multifaceted flavors at a favorable price: Waitrose Armagnac VSOP

In the UK, the name Waitrose is synonymous with high quality produce, and their VSOP Armagnac is no different. A well rounded, sumptuously smooth and fruity Armagnac that is born from a blend of Bouillers de Cru eaux-de-vie.

It’s no wonder this intense Armagnac, aged for a minimum of 5 years in traditional French Montezun oak casks, won the Gold award at the 2018 IWSC.

Its multiple facets of flavor have already become a firm favorite amongst Cognac connoisseurs in the UK. Delivering aromas of rich buttery pastries, prunes and the rich and diverse earthy tones of the forest floor.

This VSOP truly holds layer upon layer of flavor, a complex yet distinguished drinking experience with a wonderfully oaky feel that only serves to reaffirm its superior quality (despite its low price tag!). It can easily be placed alongside some of the bigger, more established players in the Armagnac game.

Recently we’ve seen a huge growth in own-brand spirits, with many British supermarkets producing their own line of brandies, but none seem to have mastered it to the level of Waitrose with their VSOP Armagnac. Receiving rave reviews from the public and professionals alike, this rich and rustic VSOP offers a more full-bodied and rounded mouthfeel than Waitrose’s VSOP Cognac.

How to Enjoy

As this is a wonderfully smooth Armagnac, it can be enjoyed neat. However, it’s earthy tones and fruity textures make it an ideal ingredient in a Champagne-based cocktail.

Mix 2 oz. of Waitrose VSOP Armagnac with 1 oz. of Grand Marnier, squeeze the juice of half an orange into the glass before topping with champagne. Can be served in a rocks glass or champagne flute, with an orange zest delicately balancing on the rim as a glamorous garnish.

The perfect Christmas, Thanksgiving or general celebration cocktail! The Cognac’s aromatic flavors are lifted by the fresh citrus and refreshing champagne, creating an utterly delightful drinking experience.
