The Hontambère Vintage 2000 Pouchegu Armagnac is a rare single-cask expression sourced from the legendary Domaine Pouchegu—a now-closed Ténarèze estate revered for its powerful, oak-forward and aromatically rich Armagnacs. After Hontambère acquired Pouchegu’s historic cellar, only limited casks were deemed worthy of bottling. This 2000 vintage is one of them: bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.6% ABV, with no additives, coloring, or chill filtration.
Produced in the heart of Armagnac Ténarèze, this release reflects the region’s signature structure and depth—rich fruit, pronounced spice, and long, contemplative finishes. Matured for over two decades, it offers a true snapshot of Pouchegu’s distinct style: intense, elegant, and meticulously crafted.
Enjoy this Armagnac neat in a tulip glass to allow its layered aromatics to unfold gradually. Add a single drop of water if desired—it can help open the deep fruit and spice notes without diminishing its natural intensity. This vintage is best savored slowly, making it ideal for contemplative sipping, pairing with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or a fine cigar.
This release is presented without a box, featuring the elegant tall Hontambère bottle shown above. Minimalist, refined, and focused entirely on the liquid itself—true to the estate’s philosophy of authenticity and craftsmanship.
