Armagnac Monluc XO Ténarèze
Description
Armagnac XO Ténarèze Strikes Gold
Monluc’s Armagnac XO Ténarèze commands attention right off the bat with its glistening golden appearance, and the appeal doesn’t stop there. This old Armagnac blend from the Monluc Château in Ténarèze achieves an enduring effect on the palate and delights with sweet aromas, emerging as a soft but lively addition to the Monluc house’s series of brandies.
Monluc is situated in the historic, hilltop village of Saint-Puy, in the Gers department of France. The village has a rich medieval history, having stood the test of time and weathered a number of invasions over the past ten centuries, and the Château is named after Blaise de Monluc - a 17th century Saint-Puy memorialist, French marshal and staunch defender of the monarchy. Nonetheless, the spirit of this Armagnac house is rooted in the family - René Lassus, inspired by his great-grandfather and local winegrower, transformed Monluc into a veritable business.
The clay limestone soils found in Ténarèze have long provided the eaux-de-vie produced in the region with a signature feistiness. This ensures that their dry quality can sit in harmony with softness and complexity, their lively character the link between a mixed bag of flavors and influences. To best reflect this finesse, the Armagnac XO Ténarèze comes in an Exception bottle, a tall tapered body that puts the drink’s honey-gold glow on full display. Flecks of amber then catch in the light to elevate it even further.
In terms of taste, this Armagnac blend packs a powerful punch, with an experience of sweet, ripe fruit giving way to a lingering finish. Armagnac XO Ténarèze continues to impress with aromas of dried fruit accompanied by soft hints of honey.
Overall, the Monluc house’s dedication to honoring the ancestors of the local land results in committed craftsmanship and an expert Armagnac.
