Tasting review

Nose: Rich, concentrated. Imbued with classicism, the first nose reveals notes of prune and apricot. Balsamic (cedar), it evolves on toffee and tawny sands (boulbènes). Then flowers (lily, iris) spread their heady perfumes. Gradually, it becomes more exotic (mango). Figs and blood oranges add freshness.

Palate: Lively, unctuous. On the tip of the tongue, tangy notes of fresh fruit like grape and apple, and exotic fruit (passion fruit) add just the right amount of acidity. It broadens to show creamy almond milk and a slightly earthy gentian root note. The finish is naturally tertiary giving off notes of cocoa bean, black licorice, and toasted walnut.

Finish: Long, finely tannic. It highlights the terroir from which it was born. The image of the hourglass and the slow passage of time jumps to mind. From fresh fruit (grape) to candied fruit (apricot) and from heady flowers (honeysuckle) to undergrowth notes (mushrooms), it steadily gains in maturity. Retro-olfaction shows ginger and cinnamon spice. Orange blossom emerges from the empty glass.

Description

L'encantada Selection 25 ans Armagnac

This blend of Bas Armagnac and Grand Bas Armagnac showcases the two terroirs perfectly, with its intensely floral and fruity character. Aged for an impressive 25 years in Gascon oak, the L'encantada Selection 25 and Armagnac displays outstanding aromas and a rich, creamy palate thanks to its slow maturation. Exceptional value for money.

The producers that supply Armagnac to L'encantada have distilled their eaux-de-vie in the heart of their domains using mobile stills heated by wood fires. Aged slowly in their spirit cellars, these Armagnacs are personally selected by the cellar master at L'encantada and only bottled once they’ve reached their optimal maturity. Every expression is brut de fût, which means no coloring, sugar or water has been added. The founders Christelle, Vincent and Frédéric are first and foremost dedicated to the preservation of Armagnac craftsmanship, and over the years they have curated an exclusive collection of rare pearls, forgotten elixirs and exceptional pieces to share and savor.

Produced in the Gascony region of south-west France, between the Adour and Garonne rivers in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the history of Armagnac dates back to at least the 15th century. The terroir here is rugged and earthy, spread across rolling hills drenched in sunshine during the long summer - resulting in dark, rich and rustic eaux-de-vie with concentrated aromas. Traditionally produced using wines made from Colombard, Baco Blanc, Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc grapes, Armagnac is distilled in column stills rather than pot stills, and distilled only once. The resulting spirit is generally of a low ABV - around 52% - and is then aged in oak barrels before being bottled.

Presentation of the Bottle

Elegant and simple, the 50cl bottle features a slim profile with orange wax on the neck, matching the label design. Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a matching gift box.

How to Enjoy Armagnac L'encantada Selection 25 ans

We recommend serving this elegant Armagnac as a digestif, as its creamy, exotic fruit notes make it the perfect match for sweet desserts. Pour into a tulip glass, but let the spirit rest for up to a minute before taking a sip - this will allow the aromas to fully develop.
