Description

Clés des Ducs XO BASQUAISE

The Armagnac XO Basquaise Clés des Ducs Martelée is part of a limited series of blended Armagnacs from the house of Clés des Ducs. Produced in the terroir, best known for its tawny sands - this Armagnac seller spreads its land over the villages of Panjas, Maupas and Estang.

Dating all the way back to the 15th century the house of Clés des Ducs is rich in history and expertise. At the heart of the brand's values is the priority to highlight the fruit, in the eaux-de-vie, with the aromas produced during the ageing process.

Using almost exclusively the Ugni Blanc grape variety, unlike many other classic Armagnacs, Clés des Ducs Armagnac XO has very little wood influence. Therefore, after the process of distillation is complete, the house of Clés des Ducs favours that the ageing process takes place in barrels which have undergone a light to medium toasting. This way the rich armagnac aromas are able to develop a unique contrast between the sweet and spicy notes present within the Armagnacs of Clés des Ducs.

Presentation of the Bottle

An armagnac containing the powerful, rich flavors of XO Basquaise requires an equally bold bottle to contain it, and the presentation of the Cles de Ducs XO Basquaise bottle is certainly something to be admired. Its smooth, curvaceous design is complemented with the quirky texture on the front and back of the bottle. This adds a contemporary feel to the bottle, and distinct contrast against a rather medieval label design.

How to best taste Armagnac XO

Adapt the tasting to your mood as both traditional and contemporary methods work incredibly with Armagnac XO. Drink as a digestive at room temperature, allowing the Armagnac to stand for up to 10 minutes before consumption. Or alternatively pair with a dessert as the sweet and spicy aromas compliment other candied flavourings deliciously.
