Philebert Cognac

Cognac Philebert is a relatively new brand produced by the largest of all cognac suppliers – Tessendier & Fils. The Philebert brand is comprised of artisan cognacs, produced with the knowledge of over a century of experience. Although still a small and limited range, Cognac Philebert is available both in France and the USA, thanks to the Tessendier distribution process and network of Tessendier USA.

History of Cognac Philebert

The history of Cognac Philebert can be traced back to the late 19th century, when a mathematics teacher by the name of Gaston Tessendier inherited a Cognac vineyard. This was the beginning of what became his passion, and the extended these first vines, eventually opening his own distillery. The company quickly grew, supplying quality eaux-de-vie to many of the regions cognac houses, and soon became one of the largest suppliers in the area.   

Philebert Cognac Today

It was early in the 21st century that Tessendier & Fils decided to create a range of cognacs to be sold under their own labels, as well as supplying the raw material to some of the largest names in cognac. Philebert Cognac was one such label, although the production remains extremely limited. The range of artisan cognacs is small, with all being faithfully produced using the oldest of cognac producing methods.

Cognac Philebert VS was awarded three stars and recommended in the Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal 2010.  

The flagship of the brand, the Cognac Philebert XO was also awarded the same accolade that year, as was the Cognac Philebert VSOP.
